LOL, at this point it is a toss up. If you go by the graveyard game, the most subtle manipulation was holding American Beauty til last. So based on that I would say Boatman is the Mole. But he has been so frelling obvious since day 1...

Least obvious has been Kathy, but has she really sabotaged anything? Other than herding mosquitos and not being particularly helpful, I would say not.

Sorry to take you guys away from the Celebrity Mole discussion, but I have an announcement.

I just got laid off. Again. Nobody trying to tell me it was my fault this time around - Your position is being "restructured."

Sigh.

Shit.

Here we go again.

Last day is February 14th. 8 weeks severance and they will pay for the masters degreee class I am taking this semester. Could be worse.

Sympathy and virtual shoulder squeezes are more than welcome.

Thumbs up

<font face="georgia">Ooh, man!
Dayum, Polly...

Well, along with virtual shoulder squeezes, here's a virtual hug. I'm better at hugs, anyway. Good luck with the hunt, and hopefully, the folks you're with have some leads. Job market today is almost all based someone you know; I hope the "vacation" is very short...

So sorry to hear that PollyMath

Personally, I'm better at the virtual shoulder squeezes than hugs.

Only 2 weeks left to work there sounds a bit short notice to me, it's pretty much always a month in the UK.

I'm sure you'll find happy employment (well, employment anyway) soon

Hey Polly, too bad about the "restructure." I've been out of work for about a year and a half now, still looking, still being roundly ignored, except when somebody sends a letter saying thank you for your interest, but we hired somebody else. Usually they don't bother writing, though. I am working some part time stuff, but it ain't enough.

Being unemployed sucks. If I'd known my masters degree was going to be a millstone, I'd never have bothered. Funny how employers around here moan and gripe about the lack of work ethics, and they won't hire me.

Sheez.

Hi Polly,

Sorry to hear about the Restructure {Hug }. I actually was on the other side of it a few months ago. They restructured my Boss and his boss out and I got about 2 or 3 times the amount of work I had.

Hi Fan,

Bummer, you still haven't been able to find anything, and you with a Master's Degree already. Here's a hug for you as well.

Hi Ian,

Often times here in the US, they will wait until they are handing you your final check before informing you. The occasions when you are given advance notice are less likely. I've been restructured out of a job about 4 times, and only 1 of those times gave me notice (and that was actually about 3 months)

{Gives Polly and Fan another great big Owl Hug}

Yes, unemployment does suck. Take the severance pay and keep your chin up. From 1994 to 1998 I survived on a mixture of short-term grants, temporary jobs, and bouts of no job. It's awful, but you have to convince yourself that it's going to end and just forge ahead. Looking back on it now I'm amazed that I survived four years like that. But I did, and while I wouldn't want to go through it again, it quickly became part of the past. Like Nietzche said, what doesn't kill us just gets us really upset, pissed off, and angry. And then we keep going.
